Midisoft Studio for Windows is a classic MIDI sequencing and notation workstation from the early Windows era (Windows 3.x/95). Aimed at hobbyists, educators, and home studios, it offers multi‑track MIDI recording, editing, and playback through an intuitive, mouse‑driven interface. You can record in real time or step‑time; edit parts in staff notation, piano roll, or event list views; and refine performances with tools like quantize, transpose, tempo mapping, and controller editing. It reads and writes Standard MIDI Files (Type 0/1), supports General MIDI sound modules and Windows‑compatible MIDI interfaces, and provides a simple track mixer for mute/solo, volume, and pan. Looping, punch‑in/out, a metronome, and track management features streamline arranging and practice, while basic score layout and printing make it easy to share parts. It remains a dependable option for revisiting legacy MIDI projects or exploring vintage Windows music software.

Midisoft Studio for Windows is developed by MidiSoft Corporation. The most popular version of this product among our users is 4.0. The name of the program executable file is STUDIO.EXE.

You can check Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2013, Panasonic IMAGE STUDIO, WIFI Studio and other related programs like Window Studio at the "download" section.

I used it many years ago and it was very intuitive. I wrote music on it that I would like to access again.

Midisoft's Studio 4 exe file does not like the current anti-malware programs and firewalls. So, I have made it work in Windows XP by simply excluding the exe file, studio.exe, from both my anti-malware and firewall programs. It especially doesn't like the latest version of Malwarebytes at all. With Malwarebytes, you not only have to exclude studio.exe in Malwarebytes exclude function, but following each boot-up of the OS, you also have to end Malwarebytes' two services in the Task Manager. You may also have to inspect Studio 4's log file for accuracy and its three ini files (asprofil.ini, midisoft.ini and studio ini) in the Windows root directory. Many times these files are carrying incorrect information. After a considerable amount of experimentation, I finally was able to make Studio 4 work in Windows XP. Will it work in later iterations of the Windows OS, who knows?
